The Spring/Summer ’19 shows are upon us, and Tom Ford kicked off New York Fashion Week overnight with a collection that featured a muted colour palette and respectful hemlines.
A change in direction from the American brand’s powerfully printed Fall/Winter ’18 collection, the new seasonal range was seen on the likes of it-models such as Kaia Gerber, Joan Smalls and Gigi Hadid (who closed the show) and featured ultra-feminine silhouettes, little black dresses, feathered evening gowns, snakeskin-printed jackets, lace detailing and modest hemlines.
The men’s collection featured several classic Tom Ford suits (which came in a variety of candy colours and metallic prints), tailored finishings, structured coats and mesh-like sweatshirts.
Not only were there famous faces strutting the runway but celebrities and Hollywood heavyweights including Tom Hanks, Anna Wintour, Cardi B (who was recently spotted wearing a Lebanese label) and Henry Golding (who is part of the most popular rom-com in almost a decade) were seated front row to support the American designer’s newest collection.
