It’s only the second day of Paris Fashion Week but we’ve already seen a slew of coveted collections unfold on the runway. Adding to the line-up of standout shows, John Galliano presented Maison Margiela‘s powerful codes and Olivier Lapidus showcased his second collection for Lanvin. Take a look here…
Maison Margiela
What you need to know: Maison Margiela’s shows always consist of quirky elements and bold themes and Fall/Winter ’18 was no different. For this season, John Galliano delivered reversed dressing, spontaneous layering and holistic codes with ensembles made up of transparent materials and nylon coats. The designer contrasted different saturated tones and incorporated many different details including single padded sleeves, high-tech fabrics, face-covering hoods and even the Security Margiela Sneaker introduced during Haute Couture Week.
In case you missed it: Renowned beauty artist Pat McGrath was the woman responsible for creating holographic beauty looks at the Maison Margiela show. The mogul used richly pigmented jewel tone shades of cobalt blue, atomic orange, deep purple and emerald green to achieve the perfect pout.
Lanvin
What you need to know: Olivier Lapidus delivered his second jewel-toned collection for Lanvin this season and the range was a reflection of the designer’s personality and interests. We spotted a major colour-block trend, monochrome evening gowns, fine turtlenecks, leather jackets and brightly coloured bag straps.
What you might have missed: The collection had a definite ’80s vibe with jewelled belt buckles, high waistlines, stirrup pants and structured shoulder cuts.
