QATAR CREATES AND NAOMI CAMPBELL TO UNITE FASHION AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

Mark your calendars
The fashion and creative industries’ most prominent names will be jet-setting to Doha for a charitable initiative...

With the official countdown of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, all eyes are currently on Qatar. And later this month, the country will be met with several prominent figures from the fashion and creative industries as Naomi Campbell’s charitable organisation, Fashion for Relief, partners with Qatar Creates to introduce a brand-new worldwide programme.

Titled Emerge, the global charitable initiative is dedicated to uniting industries as a force for good. On October 28, a series of events – including a charity gala, fashion show and VIP dinner – will support the education and investment in young creative talents from emerging regions with a focus on Africa, the Diaspora and developing nations around the world.

This initiative, held under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani and co-hosted by Naomi Campbell, will create new apprenticeships, after-school programmes and university programmes focused on creative and alternative industries such as general education, fashion, technology, art, sustainable innovations and agriculture.

“With the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, we stand at the cusp of an incredible moment for our region. It is our responsibility to seize this moment and draw the attention of the international community towards causes that benefit marginalised people across the globe” says the driving force behind Qatar Creates, Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. “I am grateful to EMERGE for joining our efforts, and I am confident that we can harness this opportunity to uplift and empower those who need it most, while creating cultural milestones.”

Launched in 2019, Qatar Creates is an annual celebration of art, fashion, design, culture and architecture, and last year’s success saw several well-known celebrities visit Doha, including prominent American fashion designer Virgil Abloh, Naomi Campbell, Pierpaolo Piccioli and Farida Khelfa to name a few.

Tickets for the event can be purchased through Qatar Creates.
