Earlier this year, Angelina Jolie announced the launch of her fashion label Atelier Jolie, where sustainability and ethicality reign supreme. Now, just a few months into its launch, Atelier Jolie is joining forces with Chloé on a womenswear collection that transcends the ordinary and exudes a timeless charm.
Co-designed by Chloé and Angeline Jolie herself, the collection stands as a testament to their shared dedication to social and environmental sustainability and their advocacy for fair practices in employing global artisans and creators. The Chloé x Atelier Jolie collection is consciously crafted, incorporating deadstock and natural fabrics such as organic silk, organic crepe de chine, and certified wool. With at least 80% of the collection being crafted from lower-impact materials, it sets a new benchmark for sustainability, surpassing any of Maison Chloé’s previous collections.
Manufactured in line with Chloé’s social sourcing framework, the collection proudly partners with Akanjo, a World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) guaranteed social enterprise based in Madagascar, which is dedicated to nurturing craftsmanship. Additionally, it collaborates with La Fabrique Nomade, a Paris-based initiative that promotes professional inclusion for refugee and migrant artisans in France. Over half of the collection is created through Fair Trade enterprises or social sourcing, showcasing a strong commitment to ethical and sustainable practices.
The collection itself is a masterpiece of design, offering a diverse range of sleek dresses, relaxed tailoring, sophisticated outerwear, and lightweight layering pieces. This stunning assortment was born in the Chloé atelier under the former Creative Director Gabriela Hearst and the discerning eye of Angelina Jolie. It seamlessly blends Chloé’s signature feminine touch and meticulous craftsmanship with Jolie’s penchant for refined minimalism.
Several designs from the Chloé x Atelier Jolie collection pay homage to Angelina Jolie’s personal treasures, including a white embroidered cotton dress from her childhood, now reimagined as a top and a timeless black velvet cape. The collection features a neutral color palette designed to complement a wide range of skin tones, with sizes catering to diverse body types.
The collection also includes Chloé’s signature lavallière shirt in deadstock hammered silk satin, perfectly paired with expertly tailored black velvet pants. For those who appreciate timeless elegance, a streamlined three-piece black suit made from deadstock wool gabardine is a standout piece.
The spirit of Atelier Jolie, founded by Angelina Jolie in 2023, revolves around providing apprenticeships for refugees and other underappreciated groups. This is vividly exemplified in the collection’s scallop-mesh embroidery on a white cotton tank top, developed in collaboration with La Fabrique Nomade. Notably, Jolie’s earnings from this collaboration will be dedicated to establishing mentorships and infrastructure for refugees and underrepresented groups at Atelier Jolie.
The Chloé x Atelier Jolie collection will be available at Chloé boutiques and online at Chloe.com from January 2024.
