It’s been a strong year for accessories. With the rise of Instagram and the endless scrolling we do on a daily basis (there’s a way to stop that, BTW), we’ve seen celebrities, it-girls and editors alike trade in those usual #OOTD snaps for zoomed-in images of their accessories. So, naturally, we’ve rounded up some of the hottest accessory trends spotted on and off the runways. Here’s what everyone’s weaing right now…
1. Fashionable frames
Rightly or wrongly (we’re divided here at Buro HQ), 2018 has been the year of tiny sunglasses. Giving us major Matrix vibes, the tiny frames that were everywhere in the ’90s have made a comeback this year on celebrities and streetstyle stars. Offering little in the way of protection from the sun, the frames are most certainly a statement accessory with cat-eye, rectangular, square and oval shapes on offer.

2. Oversized straw hats
Oversized hats have long embraced by the fash pack, especially when the summer season hits. And no one quite nailed the trend as much as Jacquemus. The brand (which just showcased its first men’s collection last month) first debuted the oversized straw hat in its Spring/Summer ’18 runway show in Paris and ever since it’s been considered a must-have accessory in any travellers’ suitcase. Just take a look at how Bella Hadid, Solange and social media mogul Anchyi Wei styled the piece.

3. Micro bags
Miniature handbags are still having its moment this year and it seems like they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. The small bags are making big waves on the streets, as well as on the runways. From Jacquemus’ runway show to Kim Kardashian’s version, Stalvey’s mint blue lizard beauty case in the hands of Rihanna and Amanda Pearl’s micro lady bag on Gigi Hadid, we’re starting to see why they say good things come in small packages.

4. Colourful kicks
Just when we thought that sneakers had been through every revamp possible, Balenciaga went and released its Triple S sneakers, otherwise known as the “Ugly” sneaker. At first glance, you may think the chunky sneaker may not go with anything but celebrities like Hailey Baldwin (who just got engaged to Justin Beiber) and Elsa Hosk prove just how versatile it can be. Louis Vuitton has released its own version of a bulky sneaker, too.

5. Belt bags
Ah, the iconic belt bag. What was once considered to be old-fashioned (the piece was carried around the ’80s and ’90s) , the belt bag has made a comeback this year, reigning supreme on the streets. Whether styled as a bag worn across the body or looped around your waists like a belt, the fanny pack appeared on almost everyone during Fashion Week. Luxury brands such as Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Isabel Marant and Balenciaga have all released their own versions of the silhouette and we think they might be here to stay a little while longer yet…

6. White boots
Even though we’re battling the summer heat here in the Middle East and can think of nothing worse than donning a pair of boots, celebrities across the globe are still embracing the white boot trend, incorporating them into their summer wardrobes. Paired with a simple tee and denim shorts à la Shay Mitchell, or as an accent to an all-black ensemble as worn by Olivia Culpo, this trend is walking its way through the rest of the year with ease.

Rachel Green pioneered the hair clip trend and over the years, the hair accessory hasbeen reimagined in several ways. However gone are the days of a simple clip-on, now there are designs with crystals, embellishments and flowers, too.
