Instagram’s ‘Reels’ feature is launching in the Middle East

Finally! The short-form video-sharing feature will be available in the region VERY soon...

Instagram has done all it could possibly do to remain as one of the top-performing social media apps to date and whilst we thought there wasn’t anything else to explore further, Instagram launched Reels — a new feature that allows users to create 15-second, multi-clip videos that can have sound, effects, and music added to them.

First launched in late 2019 in several countries across the globe, us here in the Middle East, have been patiently waiting for the new feature to be launched in the region.

Tonight (at 7pm to be exact), Reels will officially roll out in the Middle East meaning our content is about to get a whole lot more creative and engaging. Users can film and edit up to 30 second multi-clip videos with audio, effects, and new creative tools. And if you’ve got a public account, you’ll be able to make it available to the wider Instagram community through the dedicated Reels Tab.

Some of the tools you’ll come across include audio (allowing you to add music to your videos), AR Effects (because who doesn’t like using different effects?), timer and countdown (for those looking for a hands-free recording option), align (which will help create seamless transitions), speed (choose to speed up or slow down your content) and lastly, add your captions and hashtags to complete your video.

Speaking of the new feature, Samer Jamal, Strategic Partner at Instagram MENA, said: “Self-expression and versatility are part of the creative DNA of the region’s Gen Z and millennial population. As one of the primary platforms for this group of creators, we have always sought to adapt our features to what they need. With Reels, they now have more leverage when it comes to creating and sharing short-form content. Reels provides our community with greater freedom and flexibility to innovate, experiment and elevate their content, and we cannot wait to discover a new generation of talent via the feature.”

Now, here are five things you need to know about Clubhouse.
