Saudi Arabia to host Formula 1 race in 2021

In 2021, history is bound to be made in Saudi Arabia as one of the world’s biggest sports events is set to take place in Jeddah: the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The Jeddah Corniche will be the starting point of the race, and during the event, there will be a variety of recreational and cultural events.

Announcing the race, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Al Faisal, President of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation added: “Today is groundbreaking in every sense. I firmly believe the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will be the biggest sports event hosted in our country’s history and has the potential to change lives, perceptions and reach new audiences and communities like never before. To have the icons of the sport and historic teams’ race in Saudi in front of young fans and families is truly game-changing.”

The announcement of the Formula 1 race is set to strengthen the country’s ever-growing sports calendar as part of its Vision 2030 programme to help inspire its people through sport.
