Middle Eastern designers have been ruling the fashion industry for quite some time now and many of them have blossomed from the UAE. For instance, Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi (who showcased his latest S/S’19 collection during London Fashion Week) and Dubai-based brand Amato (which celebrated its 25th anniversary in an uber-luxe way) have enjoyed time in the spotlight this year.
Now, a new batch of Emirati designers is putting the spotlight on the region’s homegrown talent.
Eight designers from the country will jet-set to London for the second chapter of the UAE Design Stories: The Next Generation from the Emirates at the London Design Fair.
Taking place just a few days after London Fashion Week next month, the exhibition, called Objects of the Past Today, will see eight designers delve into the historical photographic archives of the UAE by showcasing their interpreted and modernly designed pieces.
As to what designers you can expect to see, Abdalla Almulla, Alia Bin Omair, Alia Mazrooei, Aljoud Lootah, Azza Al Qubaisi, Rouda Al Shamsi, Saleem Mansoori and Ahmad Al Areef are among the designers whose works will be showcased.
The Objects of the Past Today exhibition will take place from September 20-23 and will then travel to Paris as part of the UAE-France Cultural Dialogue programme.
