We’ve already seen a slew of coveted designers (including Noon by Noor, Ulla Johnson, Brandon Maxwell, Ralph Laurena and Jason Wu) showcase their Spring/Summer ’19 collections during New York Fashion Week and day four saw a new line-up of strong contenders. Here’s a look at Self Portrait, Christian Siriano and Dion Lee‘s newest collections…
Self-Portrait
What you need to know: We’ve continuously seen Self-Portrait’s designs rule our Instagram feeds but it all started on the runway with the brand’s signature lace cocktail dresses and other beautiful pieces. Focusing more on bold and distinctive graphics this Spring/Summer ’19 season, the collection came with an abundance of asymmetrical pieces, complete in a colourful palette with geometric florals, ruched sleeves, slimming pleats and a mix-and-match of fabrics.
Wishlist-worthy: Whilst Self-Portrait’s creations are always dreamy, the designer’s S/S’19 long-sleeved, lightweight, white maxi dress is perfect for soaking up the sun by the Mediterranean sea.
Christian Siriano
What you need to know: The designer showcased his Spring/Summer ’19 collection at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall and although the show was set in the Big Apple, the collection boasted major Hawaiian vibes. With long gowns imbued with botanical prints and super relaxed silhouettes that will be perfect for any vacation days, the collection delivered powerful suits and statement separates.
Politically-charged: Christian Siriano showed his support for Sex and the City‘s Cynthia Nixon (who announced that she was running for New York Governor earlier this year), with “Vote for Cynthia” printed black T-shirts. Also, the former actress didn’t only appear on tees, but she was also seated front row.
Dion Lee
What you need to know: Australian fashion designer Dion Lee ruled the runway at New York Fashion Week with his delivery of Spring/Summer ’19 ensembles. Featuring the designer’s signature refined, sleek and structured aesthetic, the deconstructed pieces blended lingerie-esque detailing into the garment statement-making ways.
What he said: According to WWD, Dion Lee explained post-show: “We built these underpinnings into the clothes. The idea was to blur them together so you couldn’t really tell which was the garment, which was the lingerie.”
