Giorgio Armani to hold its Cruise 2021 in Dubai

Cruise Control!
What we know so far about the latest Cruise show to make its way to Dubai…

It seems that Giorgio Armani has caught the travel bug; the designer, who so far shied away from staging spectacular cruise productions in far-flung locations, broke his course last year by taking his Resort 2020 collection to Tokyo where he showcased the glamorous affair at the city’s National Museum, and for 2021 he’s doing it again.

This time, the Italian maverick has set his sights on Dubai, with the event to take place sometime in April to coincide with the reopening of the brand’s store at The Dubai Mall.

Armani is not the first designer to look to the Middle Eastern city to stage a cruise runway event; Karl Lagerfeld took Chanel’s globe hopping Cruise 2015 collection to the shores of the bustling metropolis with a romantic modern Orient show, complete with bejeweled models, chiffon harem pants, and a faux palm tree lined catwalk.

Over the last few weeks, several luxury fashion houses have unveiled the destinations for their upcoming Cruise shows, with more and more opting to show outside the usual capitals of Paris, London, New York and Milan.

Earlier this month, Gucci announced it will hold its Cruise show in an undisclosed location in the USA on May 18th, while French maison Chanel revealed that it would be setting sail for the glamorous Italian island of Capri on May 7th, and Prada to head east to unveil its collection in Japan on May 21st.

Now, find out everything there is to know about Alber Elbaz’s new deal with Richemont.
