The six winners of Fashion Trust Arabia, the region’s first major fashion prize were announced at a start-studded gala over the weekend in Qatar. The non-profit initiative supports design talent across the MENA region and is helmed by Fashion Trust founder and co-founder of Fashion Trust Arabia, Tania Fares, with whom we spoke exclusively about what this prize means for the region.
And it was the Lebanese designers who unanimously swept the boards after 25 finalists presented their collections to a panel of judges including Diane von Furstenberg, Victoria Beckham, Valentino‘s Creative Director, Pierpaolo Piccioli and Net-a-Porter‘s Natalie Massenet.

Their win grants them to mentorship from FTA’s executive committee made up of 13 Middle Eastern fashion and business leaders, such as The Modist’s Ghizlan Guenez and designer Reem Acra, as well as a prize of up to $200,000.

The event took place at the Doha Fire Station with a host of fashion industry luminaries in attendance, including Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, FTA’s Honourable Chair, and Co-Chairs Sheikha Al- Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani and Tania Fares, founder of the Fashion Trust.
