In 2020, The Modist decided to close down operations due to the impact of the pandemic, amongst other challenges the business faced. “It is with a heavy heart we share with you that The Modist is permanently closing its virtual doors today…,” they had announced on Instagram. However, you can just imagine our joy when we found that the luxury e-commerce platform is officially making a comeback.

Founded by Ghizlan Guenez – one part of Sawa’s dynamic duo – The Modist was a niche platform that focused solely on a market overlooked by the high-end fashion industry. Focusing on modest dresses and a plethora of accessories, The Modist offered select key modest pieces from international luxury brands such as Burberry, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Taller Marmo, JW Anderson, and many more.

With the relaunch of The Modist (of which, we’re still uncertain of all the details) and Guenez’s entrepreneurial return, it shares an empowering underlying message that you can overcome challenges life throws at you.
