Arab Fashion Week is going digital

Arab Fashion Week is the latest major fashion event to go virtual...

As the world continues to slow down the spread of the coronavirus, industries worldwide have been shifting their practices online, including some of the year’s most anticipated events.

In the region specifically, we’ve been looking forward to witnessing a new generation of designers and talents at the annual Arab Fashion Week, however with the current pandemic, it will now take place entirely online.

The Arab Fashion Council announced that the next edition of Arab Fashion Week will be taking place from June 24-26.

Normally a series of runway events held in front of a live audience, the entire event will now be hosted digitally for the first time ever. Set to be broadcasted live to hundreds of audience members around the world, Arab Fashion Week will also air panel discussions, stream runway shows and the public will also be able to shop the runway collection directly online.

“We are thrilled to be able to revolutionize the traditional calendar by adapting a new digital experience that best fits the global financial and digital trend. We consider this move as a victorious step to shape the future of the fashion system into a more consumer conscious platform and sustainable culture”, says Jacob Abrian, CEO of Arab Fashion Council.

By shifting its event entirely online, the new edition of Arab Fashion Week is part of a growing movement within the fashion industry that is seeing a shift away from the traditional runway format.

Arab Fashion Week will run from June 24-26 and you can stream it live on arabfashionweek.org.
