On May 19 — exactly two weeks from today — Prince Harry will marry Meghan Markle in what is undoubtedly going to be the wedding of the year, and Kensington Palace has just announced two very special attendees at the ceremony.
Following months of speculation, Kensington Palace released a lengthy statement today regarding the participation of Meghan Markle’s family, namely her mother Doria Ragland and father Thomas Markle, in the ceremony and pre-wedding activities.
The statement shared that “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are very much looking forward to welcoming Ms. Markle’s parents to Windsor for the wedding. Mr Thomas Markle and Ms. Doria Ragland will be arriving in the U.K. in the week of the wedding, allowing time for Prince Harry’s family, including The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to spend time with them before the big day.”
It was also revealed how Markle’s parents will “have important roles in the wedding” noting that “on the morning of the wedding, Ms. Ragland will travel with Ms. Markle by car to Windsor Castle. Mr. Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle of St George’s Chapel.”
Additionally, the statement detailed how members of Princess Diana’s family will be involved in the ceremony writing that “all three siblings of Diana, Princess of Wales [will be] in attendance” with Lady Jane Fellows giving a reading during the ceremony.
And finally, the Palace announced that the official wedding photographs of the couple will be released one week after the event.
With the wedding drawer ever closer, we’re still none the wiser as to who will fill the roles of bridesmaids at the event however the Palace announced that this will be confirmed in the final week before the wedding, along with the official schedule, the Instrument of Consent and updates from the florist and baker.
