Three years ago, the UAE first introduced Emirati Women’s Day, a day dedicated to highlighting and celebrating the success of Emirati women and now we’re just hours away from ringing in the fourth edition.
Set to fall on August 28 this year, Emirati Women’s Day will follow the theme of ‘Women on the Course of Zayed’ (which perfectly coincides with the Year of Zayed) and will see several inspiring talks held around the country to celebrate the importance of the contributions of Emirati women and their important roles in the country’s development.
Here’s three you can’t miss…
1. Flow Talk Series
The popular Flow Talk Series is back for another year, this time with four Emirati female visionaries with backgrounds that range from sport to business.
Set to be moderated by UAE champion weightlifter and motivational speaker, Amna Al Haddad, the series will kick off with panellists including Amnah Al Bahar (who was one of the first Emirati CrossFit athletes to compete at the 2018 CrossFit Games in Madrid), Sara Al Madani (the youngest member of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Founder of the fashion label Rouge Couture and Emirati fusion restaurant Shabarbush), Nouf Al Afifi (one of the first and only Emirati air-traffic controllers) and Aisha Alkhaja (Founder and Creative Director of Little Wren), who will all come together to share their personal stories and paths to success.
The Flow Talk Series is free for anyone to attend and it will take place on Tuesday, August 28 from 6-7pm at Flow in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai.
2. Female Emirati pioneers discussion
In recognition of Emirati Women’s Day, Jumeirah Emirates Towers will host an interesting panel discussion with a diverse group of successful Emirati women who will discuss personal recommendations for achieving greater gender balance in the country, as well as advice for attracting the best female Emirati talent.
Women including Amna Al Owais (the CEO of DIFC Courts), Lubna Qassim (a global lawyer and one of the top 50 influencers in the Arab World), Sheikha Al Maskari (the Cheif Innovation Officer of the UAE Space Agency) and Maria Al Qassim (the public policy consultant and commentator) will be on site to discuss their inspirations, accomplishments and success.
The event will be held at Jumeirah Emirates Towers from 10:30am-12:30pm on Tuesday, August 28, and will include an Arabic-themed breakfast. It will also be open to men, women, members and non-members, with tickets priced at Dhs125 for BBG Dubai members and Dhs262 for non-members.
3. Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy x Al Mubarakah Foundation
After three successful editions, the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA) is continuing its annual tradition of celebrating Emirati Women’s Day.
This year, FBMA is teaming up with the Al Mubarakah Foundation to host an event that will celebrate the achievements of Emirati women and their important roles in the sustainable development of the country. Women including Meera Al Muhairi (a nuclear plant inspector), Fatima Al Ameri (an elite athlete coordinator at FBMA), Nada Al Raeesi (an Abu Dhabi TV Presenter), Maitha Al Maamari (a graduate from New York University Abu Dhabi) and Sheikha Al Mansouri (a student from Zayed Higher Institute for humanitarian care) will headline the event’s programme and guests will then be able to spend the early afternoon at a fitness session and a healthy cooking workshop.
The event will take place in the newly opened Abu Dhabi Ladies Club from 10am-1:30pm on Tuesday, August 28. In order to be a part of the celebrations, you need to register at fbma.ae.
