Netflix’s first original Arabic series is being filmed in Jordan

Here's what we know so far...
For any Netflix fans in the Middle East, you'll be happy to know that the first Arabic series is on its way...

Late last year, Netflix proved that users of the streaming service love binge-watching TV all day (and night) in the Middle East and due to such popular statistics, Netflix announced that it would be catering to the Middle Eastern audience even more.

Netflix announced earlier this year that it will be producing its first ever Arabic series revealing only that it will be directed by Lebanese Director Mir-Jean Bou Chaaya and written by Bassel Ghandour.

Now, we finally have more information.

The series is titled Jinn and has begun filming in Amman, Jordan. It will follow a group of Arab teenagers and how their lives are disrupted when a Jinn in the form of a teenage boy is accidentally released in the ancient city of Petra.

As to who will play the part in the series, the show will include young newcomers Salma Malhas, Hamza Abu Eqab, Sultan Alkhalil, Aysha Shahalthough, Yaser Al Hadi and Ban Halaweh.

Speaking of the upcoming series, Ghandour said in a statement: “We are really excited about this. It is very common in the Middle East that people know someone who has a Jinn story, so it’s nice to take that and turn it into a fun and mysterious teen adventure that everyone can enjoy. On a broader note, I love that Netflix is investing a lot in the region, it’s a real turning point. We have such a rich storytelling culture, and we’ll finally be able to enjoy Arabic content with Netflix quality.”

Whilst no further details have been revealed as to when the exact date will be, we know that it will be sometime next year.
