Wondering who everyone will be talking about for Oscars contention come the end of the year? One watch of the Mary, Queen of Scots trailer and Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan will definitely spring to mind.
In the upcoming flick, Robbie transforms into Queen Elizabeth, one of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn’s daughters, and looks unrecognisable in doing so. She stars alongside Ronan who plays her younger cousin, Mary Stuart. The pair battle it out when Mary returns home to Scotland and challenges Elizabeth’s rule. What began as a friendship, soon descended into a deep rivalry that resulted in war.
Speaking with EW about the role, Robbie said, “Everyone manipulated their relationship. It’s complicated, it’s tragic and it’s bizarre. The only other person in the world who could understand the position they were in was each other.”
