T

here’s an exciting list of cultural experiences to enjoy this weekend including culinary offerings, live entertainment, fitness and celebrations this weekend. We’ve rounded up some of the city’s best places to celebrate Chinese New Year, details on where to watch a breathtaking ballet performance, how to find your zen and where to watch an award-winning Scottish musician live in Sharjah. No matter your choice, this is where you need to be and be seen.

Celebrate Chinese New Year

Welcome to the Year of the Dog! Whilst fashion brands like Louis Vuitton and Versace have created capsule collections for the Chinese New Year, the UAE is putting together a selection of cultural experiences in several spots across the emirates. The Address Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa and The Palm will offer culinary delights and family activities throughout the weekend.

Plus, if you want to witness Emaar’s spectacular Light Up show, head down to the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai.

Watch Ballet Under the Stars

Ballet Under the Stars is set to make its return at the Desert Palm Dubai this weekend. Expect to see twelve world-class dancers from the Covent Garden Dance Company perform an intimate and beautiful al fresco show with Royal Ballet’s Mara Galeazzi and Royal Danish Ballet’s Principal Gregory Dean headlining the performance.

Ballet Under the Stars will be showcased at Desert Palm Dubai on Al Awir Road, on February 16, 2018. Tickets are priced at Dhs750. For more information, visit dubai.platinumlist.net

Piloga Studio offers underwater yoga

Even though we’re well into the New Year, it’s time to really put those fitness resolutions to work. Instead of hitting the gym or spending the day outdoors, there’s a new experience that is set to delight any fitness enthusiast. Piloga Studios is hosting a special healing session this season and they’re bringing their yoga classes to a cool new environment at the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.

The yoga session will take place at the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo in The Dubai Mall on February 17, 2018, from 8-9am. Tickets are available at Dhs125.

Watch Emeli Sandé live in concert

One of the UK’s award-winning musicians is set to take the stage in the UAE this weekend. Marking the third time Emeli Sandé will perform in the UAE (she first came to Dubai in 2009 and then in 2013 to headline the annual Sandance New Year’s Eve concert), expect to sing-along to tunes including ‘Read All About It’ and ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’.

Emeli Sandé is set to perform at the Al Majaz Amphitheatre in Sharjah on February 16, 2018. For tickets, visit ticketmaster.ae
