Before Victoria Beckham was Victoria Beckham, she was Posh Spice. Remember that? In pleather tops so tight they looked painted on, and nude lipstick heavily ringed in brown liner? It’s a look that a business woman at the helm of a global fashion label and beauty brand might want to forget. But VB is embracing it, using ‘Posh’ as the moniker for her new lipstick collection.
Why the change in direction? “After the Spice Girls, I distanced myself from the nickname [Posh] because it had an unwavering momentum of its own. I wanted to find my own direction. Now, years later, I look back at that formative time with appreciation. Posh forever changed the course of my life, opening the door for me to go after my dreams,” Beckham wrote on an Instagram story.
The lipsticks have been in the works since she debuted her eponymous make-up collection a little over a year ago. Of the are nine clean and vegan shades, all with the prefix Posh: Posh Girl; Posh Pose; Posh Pout; Posh Sway; Posh Fringe; Posh Pop; Posh Play; Posh Spice; Posh Pixi. Housed in a super-slim brown horn effect cases, and with VB stamp on their tip, they’re posh indeed!
The aim was to create a wardrobe of staples to suit all skin tones. VB’s go-to, unsurprisingly, is Posh Spice, a pinky brown, but the shade range runs the gamut from mauve (Pose) to postbox red (Pop); they’re punchily pigmented, have great staying power, and in a skinny bullet, are easy to apply even without a mirror. Plus, with wax and avocado oil, lips feel like they’ve been smushed with something rich and balmy.
“Today, Posh is about having that same confidence. It’s about being true to yourself, but also not taking yourself too seriously.” In her own words, Posh is Back.
