Looking at Ostraco Suites on a map, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the hotel is set in a high traffic area of Mykonos. Whilst that is indeed true, the hotel is an oasis of calm and relaxation within the bustling city centre. Driving through the gates, you’re immediately transported into holiday mode, with gleaming white buildings dotting a 6,000 square metre space that accommodates a sizeable number of guests, though you’ll only bump into a handful of them at breakfast and spend the rest of your time feeling as though you’ve got the hotel to yourself. With the Mykonian weather still delivering endless sunshine for the month of August and the five day Eid Al Adha holiday coming up, here’s five reasons why you should book your stay, like, right now…
Location
Whilst the hotel itself is stunning (more on that in a minute), its location is an easy drawcard for visitors to the Grecian island. Boasting uninterrupted views of the Aegean Sea from multiple places on the property, it’s close enough to the famed action on the island but far enough away to give guests a proper space in which to relax.
The hotel is located just 600 metres from the town centre of Mykonos. Take a short 15 minute walk and you’ll be winding amongst the famed boutiques and Bougainvillea dotted paths of Mykonos’ old town.
Oh and it’s a four-minute car ride from the airport meaning you can go from the plane to poolside in less than 30 minutes (luggage pending!).
Rooms
The hotel has existed on the island since 1986 and has undergone several revamps in that 22 year period. Most recently, its suites were refurbished to reflect the hotel’s overall sleek minimalist vibe, and enhance a selection of the existing suites. For your stay, there are eight room categories to choose from, ranging from a cosy classic room to the spacious deluxe two bedroom suite. Some rooms come with partial or sea views, whilst others have tranquil garden views. One of the newest refurbished suites is the honeymoon suite which comes with its own private pool — the only villa to boast this addition, however there are two other room categories that come with private outdoor jacuzzis.
Inside the rooms, crisp white linens enhance the feeling of airiness and brightness, whilst neutrals punctuate the bathroom spaces for a cool contrast. Plus, you’ll find an array of Molton Brown amenities to use during your stay. Beds are large and oh-so comfortable, a welcoming refuge following a day at the beach or a night spent partying (it is Mykonos, after all).

Pool
One look at the pool and you’ll never want to leave. Trust us. The minimalist space is the perfect combination of comfort and elegance with a choice of four plush sunbeds (each of which fit two people), eight sun loungers or two beanbags if you prefer a more casual poolside approach. The deep water pool provides the perfect relief from the warm of the sun when you should so wish to dive in, whilst the bar serves up a range of beverages to keep you cool, too. Hungry? Order from the hotel’s restaurant located just steps from the pool’s edge.
Food
Speaking of food, the hotel’s restaurant serves up only organic fare that is brimming with flavour. Ingredients are sourced from the hotel’s own garden, as well as local suppliers on the island and beyond, meaning each dish is as fresh as can be. Breakfast is served in this space, too, with a basket of fresh bread and orange juice greeting you upon arrival before you’re presented with a curated-yet-sizeable menu of dishes to choose from as your main event. The Greek yoghurt with muesli and fresh fruit salad is an unmissable starter, before moving on to eggs cooked traditional Greek style. For lunch or dinner, the salads are a memorable choice, and the orzo pasta with shrimps and tomatoes is seriously good.
Hidden gems
The hotel has excelled at creating hidden spaces for its guests. Just to the left of the reception, you’ll find a day bed and that’s perfectly positioned to gaze out on the Aegean Sea, meanwhile around the corner on the lower level of the hotel’s grounds, there’s an irresistible nook that’s been converted into a library with a spacious daybed and books. It also looks out to the sea so be sure to look up when you turn your page. And if you fancy a spot of chess, you’ll find a lifesize chessboard nestled under a tree with viewing seats to the side for your fan/s to watch as you play. Plus, there’s too many Instagram-worthy corners to count — be sure you’ve got room on your phone for all of the #OOTD photos you’ll be taking.
