If you’re starting to feel the inevitable cabin fever that comes with Middle Eastern summers and dreaming of your next getaway, we’ve got just the place for you.
Every year, Travel & Leisure magazine polls its readers for its annual World’s Best survey and this year, the Indonesian island of Java came out on top, scoring a 95.28 out of 100. The island is home to the world’s largest Buddhist temple as well as the beautiful Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park and Karimunjawa Islands.
Indonesia took out the top three spots with Java followed by Bali in second place and Lombok in third. It’s no small feat when you consider that they each beat the Maldives which came in fourth. Waiheke in New Zealand rounded out the top five.
The Philippines scored two spots in the top 15, with Palawan ranking sixth and Cebu ranking eighth.
