Several industries are coming together to help fight the current COVID-19 pandemic — whether it’s offering National Health Service (NHS) workers free accommodation, more masks and sanitisers for the country or medical equipment much needed in several countries across the globe.
Now, yet another brand has joined the global fight against COVID-19 and with order from the government, too.
British tech company Dyson (known for creating some of the most renowned hair products) has been asked to create 10,000 medical ventilators designed at breakneck speed to help the NHS.
Refocusing all of the resources at Dyson, billionaire Founder James Dyson has teamed up with The Technology Partnership (TTP) to design and build an entirely new ventilator, titled The CoVent.
“A ventilator supports a patient who is no longer able to maintain their own airways, but sadly there is currently a significant shortage, both in the UK and other countries around the world,” Dyson wrote in a letter to employees. “This new device can be manufactured quickly, efficiently and at volume,” Dyson added, saying that the new ventilator has been designed to “address the specific needs” of coronavirus patients.
