Every year, Google releases its ‘Year in Search’ report which shines a spotlight on what people across the world have searched for over the past 12 months. It’s a pretty fascinating look into the global search psyche and the results for 2018 have just been revealed.
Unsurprisingly, Meghan Markle was the most googled person in the world, followed by Demi Lovato, Sylvester Stallone, Logan Paul and Khloe Kardashian. It makes sense that the Royal Wedding would be the fourth most searched news in the year, with the World Cup, Hurrican Florence and the Mega Millions Result taking the first three spots.
Loss was a big theme this year, too, with the top five news searches globally including Avicii, Mac Miller and Stan Lee, each of whom sadly passed away this year. The World Cup took out the number one search spot and box office hit Black Panther rounded out the top five.
Netflix newcomer Noah Centineo was the the fifth most searched actor globally, whilst scandal-plagued Tristan Thompson was the highest searched athlete and Demi Lovato was the most searched musician.
Closer to home, Priyanka Chopra came in third on the UAE’s most searched list this year, whilst husband Nick Jonas came in second on its most searched people list, trailing Meghan Markle. Meanwhile over in Saudi, the country’s world cup matches dominated sports searches and the Falcon and Fishing expedition was the top news event searched.
