Jay-Z is having a pretty good week. First up, he and Beyoncé dropped a surprise joint album via Tidal as well as a film clip (in which Bey wears no less than seven full designer looks), and now it’s been revealed that the rapper is the new Creative Director for Puma basketball.
His new role will involve product creation as well as helping to develop a marketing strategy. In addition to these responsibilities, according to ESPN he will also “help to identify which upcoming NBA players and entertainers may be best suited for the brand to sign.”
This isn’t the first time that the musician has worked with the brand, having previously collaborated via his sports agency, Roc Nation Sports, on several occasions and sporting the brand’s pieces on tour.
His appointment comes hot on the heels of the company announcing that it was re-entering the basketball market after nearly two decades out.
Jay-Z is the latest in a string of high profile collaborations the brand has successfully pursued in recent years with the likes of Rihanna and Kylie Jenner having designed collections for the label.
Now, find out which designer is launching an athleisure collection for the first time.
