It will come as no surprise to any resident or visitor of Dubai that the city is brimming with some of the world’s best offerings in luxury shopping and lifestyle. There’s been a few new additions hit our shores recently, too, bringing with them a whole host of celebrity fans and expertise. If you’re keen on making 2019 your most memorable one yet, here’s five ways to live like a celebrity in Dubai.
EAT
Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal will open his very first (and third ever) outpost in the Middle East this year. Called ‘Dinner by Heston Blumenthal’, the restaurant will serve up the renowned chef’s gastronomic delights and offer a menu that is “inspired by the tastes and flavours of Britain, from the farmers’ table to the royal courts of England and offers highly modern dishes inspired by a gastronomic insight from Medieval to Victorian times.” There’s still no word on the exact opening date but we suspect Heston himself will make the trip to open the new hotspot so be sure to watch this space.
ACCESSORISE
Blake Lively, Hailey Baldwin and Gwyneth Paltrow all have something in common (well, besides being gorgeous blondes…) and that is that the trio are all fans of celebrity fine jeweller and piercing expert Maria Tash. The famed founder of the #CuratedEar opened the doors to her first ever store in the Middle East last November, offering the first fully licensed piercing parlour in the city stocked full of her cult diamond pieces. Pop in store for a consultation with one of Maria’s staff who will help you curate the ear look of your dreams and then marvel in all of the compliments you’ll receive from here on out. You may never wear your hair down again.
EXERCISE
Barry’s Boot Camp is famed for its intense classes and body-whipping results so it’s no wonder the gym is also loved by celebrities. With outposts in London and New York (plus two in Dubai — the newest opened in the second half of last year in Dubai Marina), the likes of Victoria and David Beckham and Jake Gyllenhaal frequent its international outposts. The Dubai locales often fly in star trainers from other markets, too, meaning you’ll have the chance to be trained by some of the world’s top fitness gurus. And if they’ve trained David and are now training you, that basically makes you workout buddies, no?
PRIMP
Opening its doors in The Dubai Mall in December of last year, the Trevor Sorbie salon in The Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue extension is certain to be a hit with hair-obsessors. Founded by M.B.E. Trevor Sorbie (whose celebrity clients include Grace Jones and Helen Mirren), the brand is now helmed by Artistic Director Tom Connell. With a focus on healthy hair, the brand is known for setting the trends as opposed to following them and will snip your hair into a ‘gram-worthy style you’ll instantly love.
PERFECT
Dr. Apa’s clinic in Jumeirah is never not busy, thanks to the young dentist’s reputation as one of the best in the biz. Dr. Apa has changed the smiles of celebrities including Uma Thurman and the Olsen twins during his career and Hollywood-ready smiles are his bread and butter — through the use of veneers, the clinic can transform your smile entirely. Apa himself is in town every other month and he’s assembled a crack unit team of professionals to assist clients in his absence. The clinic also offers teeth whitening, which in 45 minutes will give you a brighter and whiter smile that will leave you looking red-carpet ready in less than an hour.
