Virgil Abloh’s IKEA collection will be unveiled on Monday

Via a livestream
Virgil Abloh is an unstoppable man. Up next is his collection with Swedish retail giant IKEA...

We’re beginning to wonder if Virgil Abloh ever has time to sleep. From running his hugely successful own label Off-White, to collaborating with Byredo on a new range of perfumes and being named the Men’s Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton, the man is literally everywhere. And soon enough, he’ll have a presence in homes too thanks to his highly anticipated collaboration with IKEA

The collaboration was announced last year with very few details shared  (save for an image of the company’s iconic blue bag having undergone an Off-White makeover) however the Swedish furniture giant shared on its Instagram page overnight that the collection will be unveiled on Monday, via a livestream, no less.

Abloh recently spoke of the collaboration in an exclusive interview with Rem Koolhaas for System Magazine, saying, “IKEA approached me to do a survey of millennials’ first apartments, so I am looking at doing 30 pieces of furniture that could be a toolkit for millennials. So I am understanding the different clientele – why they purchase furniture, what they want. Part of the study was understanding the Duchamp principles of art and objects. I looked at the IKEA nomenclature, a Kelly bag, and how the price of a Tom Sachs art piece evolves.”

As for what that means for the pieces? Well, there’s not long until we find out. Catch the livestream on IKEA’s Instagram page at 12:30 am local time (GMT +4) on Monday, April 30.
