IWC Schaffhausen reveals new Pilot’s timepieces at SIHH

On the first day of the prestigious event...
IWC Schaffhausen just showcased a new novelty at SIHH 2019 today...

The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie exhibition officially kicked off on a high note today as some of the world’s most exclusive watchmaking brands have come together to showcase a new round-up of novelty releases throughout the year.

IWC Schaffhausen was one of the brand’s to launched a new timepiece creation. The luxury Swiss manufacturer presented the new Spitfire line as part of its Pilot’s Watches collection.

Paying homage to the brand’s unique craftsmanship and expertise from the brand’s legendary British fighter aircraft (which serves as the inspiration behind many of the exclusive timepieces), the new Spitfire watches (there are five in total) now all feature IWC-manufactured calibres — marking the first time the brand has integrated this sort of chronographic movement into its pilot’s watches.

Speaking of the new timepiece design, IWC Schaffhausen’s Creative Director, Christian Knoop, said: “The colour scheme of the watch design, with its stainless steel case, its black dial and its green textile strap, is reminiscent of the cockpit of Spitfire. The bronze case, olive green dials and brown calf leather straps give the other models character. Over time, the bronze develops a special patina. The Spitfire is engraved on the back of the watches with a closed case.”
