Virgil Abloh combines design and street art for Louis Vuitton’s Tambour Slim Rainbow watch

You next piece of arm candy...
Virgil Abloh added his own twist to a Louis Vuitton timepiece and now, we need to have it...

As if you didn’t know it by now, Virgil Abloh is a force to be reckoned with in the industry. Constantly turning everything he touches to wishlist-worthy creations, the Louis Vuitton Artistic Director of Men’s collections, continuously tells a story with every collection he puts forward, including his Fall/Winter ’19 range.

The autumnal collection saw a blend between design and street art as the pieces were as refreshing as they were refined with bright colours contrasted against black accessories, including the new Tambour Slim Rainbow watch.

Easily to become next season’s it accessory, the timepiece comes adorned in an entirely black case with PVD coating, as well as the dial’s geometric motif in a fluorescent rainbow X — perfectly echoing the design codes of the brand’s leather goods and accessories.

Also, the Tambour Slim Rainbow watch has been hand-decorated by Louis Vuitton’s craftsmen from La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton using the transfer method. So what does the process consist of exactly? It’s basically transferring the painting into the dial using a silicon-coated rubber stamp. Plus, it takes up to 42 layers of paint and the same number of drying hours at 100 degrees to produce the dial alone.

Now, incase you haven’t seen Virgil Abloh’s latest collection for the maison, here’s your front row ticket to the Spring/Summer 2020 runway show during Men’s Paris Fashion Week.
