During Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, Virginie Viard delivered an exceptional couture collection that dove into Gabrielle Chanel’s childhood. The maison’s Creative Director perfectly executed her vision as the Grand Palais-transformed runway showcased uniform dressing that carried a sophisticated, yet playful, charm.
Amongst the collection, we saw some of Chanel‘s iconic silhouettes and fabrics including tweed. And now, the house’s signature handwoven cloth begins another journey with High Jewellery.
For the first time, Chanel unveiled a collection entirely devoted to tweed. Entitled Tweed de Chanel, the High Jewellery collection consists of 45 exceptional pieces that come adorned in necklaces, rings and bracelets.
Expressing the distinctive characteristics of tweed (which was an essential element of Gabrielle’s wardrobe), the pieces are crafted with diamonds, pearls and sapphires as they’re layered and intertwined to create textured effects — fashioned exclusively by hand. Also, each setting placed has been brought to its minimalist appearance to reduce the roughness of the grain. Why so? This makes the stunning pieces extremely soft to touch.
