Clare Waight Keller makes her couture debut for Givenchy

Plus Georges Chakra and Giorgio Armani Privé
There were lots of embellishment, elegance and exquisite tailoring showcased on day two of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week...

After a successful first day of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, the beautiful couture shows continued through day two. Whilst the schedule is packed with designers, there were three new Spring/Summer ’18 collections that caught our eye in particular. From Clare Waight Keller’s couture debut at Givenchy to one of the Middle East’s very own, here are the collections you need to see…

Georges Chakra

Lebanese designer Georges Chakra showed his latest collection to a full house in Paris yesterday. Finished in a pretty, neautral palette, elegant dresses were crafted with brushed fabrics, exaggerated ruffles, floral appliques, intricate embellishments and metallic effects for maximum impact.

Giorgio Armani Privé

Giorgio Armani showcased his achingly cool menswear collection at Men’s Milan Fashion Week earlier this month and last night, he took his artistic craftsmanship to Paris for his Armani Privé line.

Looking towards the Parisian weather for inspiration, the haute couture collection, aptly titled Clouds, was light and airy. With Marion Cotillard, Diane Kruger and Isabelle Huppert sitting front row, the collection was full of short dresses, silk shorts, red carpet-ready gowns, tailored trousers and structured jackets.

Givenchy

Easily the most exciting moment of the day, Clare Waight Keller made her couture debut after being announced as Givenchy’s first female creative director last year. The collection, which has received rave reviews globally, was packed with bold and beautiful creations. In a surprise move, the designer broke boundaries by adding couture menswear to the runway also, blending essential Givenchy codes with traditional and classic silhouettes for both men and women.
