Today, Pierpaolo Piccioli has taken the fash pack to Tokyo for Valentino‘s Pre-Fall 2019 show. The show is called Valentino TKY, which the brand says in a release, “aims to embrace the conflicting and mesmerising energy of contemporary Japan where an ageless culture of adolescence rides the past like a race bike through the present into the future.”
For the collection, Picciolo has taken inspiration from Giacomo Puccini’s Madame Butterfly by reimagining “a Japan in dialogue with Italian Renaissance, two worlds so far and so near at the same time, both devoted to the worship of harmony and details and yet so much fascinated with the other and the new.”
