What a day for fashion news! Mere hours after Kris Van Assche announced his departure from Dior Homme after 11 years with the brand, the house has confirmed its new Creative Director.
Kim Jones will fill the role, effective from April 1, WWD reports, showing his first collection for the brand in June.
Jones, who made a shock departure from Louis Vuitton back in January, was rumoured to be Assche’s successor when news broke of his departure earlier today with the maison just confirming the appointment. Pietro Beccari, the CEO of Christian Dior Couture, told WWD, “I am delighted to welcome Kim Jones, with whom I had the chance to collaborate previously at Louis Vuitton. I admire his creative vision, which combines both his own inspirations of contemporary culture and his own reinterpretation of specific codes and heritage of a house. I am confident in his ability to recreate his universe within the maison Dior and imagine for Dior Homme an elegant and resolutely modern wardrobe.”
It is not yet known for Assche is headed but sources have confirmed that he will take up a post elsewhere in the LVMH portfolio of luxury brands.
