During New York Fashion Week, Carolina Herrera took her final bow after presenting her latest Fall/Winter ’18 collection for her eponymous label. Just days before that, the designer announced that she’d be stepping down from her role and that Wes Gordon would replace the American/Venezuelan fashion designer moving forward.
Now, we finally have the first look at Gordon’s debut collection for the maison and it couldn’t be more perfect for the season.
Showcasing a Resort ’19 collection that features a beautiful colour palette, romantic silhouettes, strong cuts and feminine prints, Gordon still included the brand’s signature elements but added his own spin to it. For example, he tackled and reinterpreted the signature house dots, rainbow concepts, colourful contrasts, belts and bows for his trans-seasonal collection.
Speaking to WWD, the new designer explained the collection as being ” where the golf course meets the desert, where midcentury architecture meets kitsch wallpaper, where Slim Aarons meets Coachella, a bright, sunshiny oasis. It’s a little quirky and glamorous at the same time.”
