Balmain has long been a brand that celebrates luxury and the life of cinema. It all started with Pierre Balmain who loved to tell stories through his designs and when Olivier Rousteing acquired the helm of the fashion house, he continued that legacy by creating costumes for a multitude of ballet and theatre pieces, and was responsible for many other productions. One includes his latest project with Netflix.
Building on Balmain’s long-standing and unique history, Olivier worked on an exclusive capsule collection for Netflix’s film, ‘The Harder They Fall’ – marking the streaming service’s first luxury fashion collaboration.
Coinciding with the film’s release, the limited-edition capsule collection merges the Wild Wild West elements of the film with Balmain’s audacious finesse.
“I was asked to design a few pieces, which have been masterfully integrated into the fantastic overall ambience that the very talented Costume Director Antoinette Messam created for the film,” explains Olivier Rousteing. “But, to tell you the truth, I wanted to do much, much more. So, I was thrilled when “The Harder They Fall” team asked me if I’d be willing to push it a bit farther — which is how we ended up deciding to partner on a special limited-edition Balmain – The Harder They Fall Collection, directly inspired by the spirit of this groundbreaking Western.”
