In the heart of New York City, Saudis are leaving their mark via a new exhibition that highlights the creativity of 100 Saudi designers – one that is certainly not-to-be-missed.
The Saudi 100 Brand initiative is a global travelling exhibition that puts the spotlight on a curated selection of clothing and accessories from Saudi designers. To be precise, there are eight categories to discover: ready-to-wear, modest, concept, premiere, demi-couture, bridal, bags, and jewellery.
Marking the first time Saudi 100 Brands has ever been revealed outside of the Middle East, the curated fashion experience brought some of the industry’s most influential women to celebrate our regional talent. Supporting our designers on site were Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the United States; legendary fashion designer Carolina Herrera; Lebanese designer Reem Acra; Alaa Balkhy and Rae Joseph.
The exhibition is part of a more extensive program that aims to mentor the designers and provide opportunities for showcasing their work so, out of nearly 1500 applicants, 100 were chosen and tasked with creating a piece that reflects the Saudi heritage and culture. Throughout the exhibition, the chosen designers will also receive advice from fashion experts across the globe with one-on-one mentorship and informative workshops on topics such as design, innovation, marketing, and sales strategy.
The exhibition will take place from July 26 to August 7, 2022 at the Iron23 Building in Manhattan, New York.
