Fashion weeks for all we know could possibly come to an end in the future but for now, it’s shifting to a digital format for us to enjoy from the comforts of our own homes while social distancing.
This weekend, Carine Roitfeld is hosting a virtual runway — and whilst we all want to see the fashion, the show is for a good cause too. Roitfeld’s second-ever CR Runway will raise awareness for COVID-19 relief in partnership with amfAR.
On May 1, you can expect celebrities to wear creations from their personal wardrobes (styled by Roitfeld and her team of course), along with musical performances, contributors and words of hope from other prolific personalities. The 30-minute digital event will be hosted by Derek Blasberg.
Some of the names you can expect to see are Virgil Abloh, Halima Aden, Alessandra Ambrosio, Hailey Bieber, Ashley Graham, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Winnie Harlow, Candice Huffine, Kim Kardashian West, Karlie Kloss and Adriana Lima, amongst others.
“In times of great uncertainty, our support for one another is more important than ever,” Roitfeld said in a statement. “Embracing fashion as the creative expression through which to support the health and safety of our global communities, we hope this show can offer a small moment of hope, inspiration, and uplifting connection for those who are doing their part to self-isolate. A modest contribution as our world unites to collectively weather the storm of this pandemic together.”
To watch the runway show, tune in to the virtual event on YouTube on May 1, 4PM ET (that’ll be May 2, 12AM for us).
