INDULGE IN A VISUAL TREAT WITH SOME OF THE MET GALA 2023 BEST RED CARPET LOOKS.

Dress Code: In Honour Of Karl Lagerfeld.
Celebrities grace the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, decked out in their most exquisite ensembles, for the highly-anticipated annual Costume Institute Benefit.

This year’s theme, “In honour of Karl,” pays homage to the legendary Karl Lagerfeld, who transformed some of the most renowned fashion houses in history. As the creative director of Chanel, Fendi, and his eponymous label, Lagerfeld’s impact on the fashion industry was immeasurable, making this year’s Met Gala a celebration of his unparalleled legacy of luxury. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is alive with the glamour and extravagance of the annual Met Gala, and this year’s theme pays tribute to the legendary Karl Lagerfeld through the Costume Institute’s spring show, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” A posthumous retrospective of the German fashion icon’s prolific career, the exhibit showcases Lagerfeld’s unbridled creativity and visionary approach to design. Leading the charge as co-chairs of the event are none other than the iconic Anna Wintour, Vogue’s global editorial director, alongside an impressive array of stars, including Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, and Penélope Cruz. Notably, Cruz made her runway debut for Chanel in the wake of Lagerfeld’s passing, making her involvement in this year’s Met Gala all the more poignant.

The white carpet at the Met Gala is abuzz with excitement as stars pay homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld, a designer whose profound influence has shaped the fashion industry for generations. From striking silhouettes to unique accessories, the red carpet is teeming with Lagerfeld-inspired designs that reflect his distinctive personal style. As a nod to his iconic work at Chanel, the classic color palette of black, white, blush, and pearls dominates the fashion landscape, with several archival looks from the label making a comeback at the event. Margot Robbie sizzles in a 1993 dress once worn by Cindy Crawford, while Nicole Kidman stuns in the iconic feathered gown made famous in her Chanel No. 5 commercial directed by Baz Luhrmann in 2004. With so many tributes to Lagerfeld’s legacy on display, this year’s Met Gala is a true celebration of his enduring impact on the world of fashion.

One cannot forget Jeremy Pope’s look for example, with his mesmerizing 30-foot Karl cape. This custom Balmain creation is a stunning tribute to the late fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld, featuring a whopping 5000 meters of silk chiffon that flows in the wind with an ethereal grace. The cape is a true masterpiece that showcases the sheer artistry and creativity of the fashion world, perfectly capturing Lagerfeld’s inimitable style and flair.
