THE MAKING OF: LOEWE REIMAGINES A DRESS FROM KARL LAGERFELD’S SS1983 COLLECTION FOR CHANEL.

& Karlie Kloss wore it.
onathan Anderson, the mastermind behind LOEWE, was captivated by the exquisite theme of this year's Met Gala, which celebrates the life and work of the legendary fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld.

To pay tribute to the icon, Anderson turned to The Met Costume Institute’s vast archives, where he discovered a stunning dress from Lagerfeld’s Spring Summer 1983 collection for Chanel. Drawing inspiration from the blurry lines of LOEWE’s latest runway collection, Anderson brilliantly reimagined the dress using luxurious velvet satin, creating a floor-length gown that exudes elegance and sophistication. The Lagerfeld design was reinterpreted into a captivating printed pattern, and the final touch of perfection was added by Karla Welch, who styled the look with a long-strand necklace and belt featuring LOEWE’s signature Anagram motif. The resulting masterpiece is a breathtaking homage to Karl Lagerfeld’s enduring legacy.
