We first fell in love with Bthaina‘s beautifully embellished ensembles when the brand launched an exclusive Middle Eastern collection on Moda Operandi last year and now, we’ve got another reason to indulge into the Omani brand’s offerings.
The sole designer behind the eponymous label, Buthaina Anees Al Zadjali, is known for blending modest dressing with exquisite traditional elements and for this season, she turned her attention to Persian rugs and their intricate works for inspiration.
Titled Persian Spell, the new collection mirrors those detailed patterns and the bright hues seen on the traditional carpets whilst each ensemble features embroidered flower patterns (done using gold thread) and hand-embellished sequin work.
Completed in a utilitarian colour palette, the collection is very detail-oriented and features embellished capes, multi-coloured tiered layers and flared sleeves as well as rope, tassels, tulle and fringing on kaftans and jalabiyas.
Speaking of the collection, Al Zadjali exclusively shared her inspirations behind the collection with Buro 24/7 Middle East, saying, “This season I was inspired by the elaborate patterns and vibrant colours found in Persian rugs. I have always been fascinated by the mystical beauty and exquisite detail of the carpets so I referenced this and included bold colours and intricate details in the collection. I love to experiment with embellishments so gold thread is embroidered in flower and diamond shapes while tone on tone rope is knotted and threaded in traditional patterns. I also included tassels and tulle for a playful touch. Overall the collection is bold, feminine and sophisticated while still embodying the bohemian spirit of the brand.”
