Hermès brought back its fundamentals for Spring/Summer 2020

A new twist on workwear
Held at Le Tennis Club de Paris, Hermès showcased its latest women’s RTW collection for the Spring/Summer 2020 season and the coveted range brought back the maison’s fundamentals...

It’s true: every collection Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski puts forward for Hermès continues to brilliantly stay true to the house ethos that finds its form through classicism.

With a backdrop that referenced a new horizon (think a Bubinga pink hue to represent the sky which will then turn into dusk), the Spring/Summer 2020 runway show saw a slew of looks that carried a tribute to the maison’s artisans as models walked down the runway wearing aprons.

The seasonal collection kicked off with a series of mismatched separates that came complete in a sporty aesthetic, and that gave way for the more refined and structural ensembles we’ve all come to know and love from the fashion house.

Leather-based cuts highlighted the luxe standards and heritage of Hermès as skirt and trouser suits were heavily present in the collection, along with a cool twist on layering (think long leather vest over pants).

As more looks unfolded on the runway, there was an increasing number of lighter leather fabrics that came in the form of dresses, and asymmetric pleats on skirts, too.

Complete in Hermès’ hero palette of earthy tones, the collection displayed the nuances of a luxury house, all whilst remaining traditional and appealing to the modern woman.
