What do Montblanc and the GCC countries have in common? A shared love for fine watchmaking and horse racing. Born out of this love, Montblanc is proud to introduce the ‘Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec’ Chronograph designed exclusively for the GCC. The Middle East’s profound love for equestrian sports and its affinity for luxury watches find common ground in Montblanc’s latest horological masterpiece. Unveiling the ‘ Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec’ Chronograph GCC Limited Edition, Montblanc pays tribute to its legacy as a timekeeper on the iconic Champs-de-Mars horse racing track in Paris that dates back to 1821. This exquisite timepiece celebrates the shared passion for the racetrack and refined watchmaking, incorporating distinct references to the GCC countries in the Middle East.
This limited-edition watch continues Montblanc’s legacy of the ‘inking’ chronograph, which was reimagined in 2022 with a new 43mm case. The watch flaunts a sophisticated design featuring a stainless steel case with a black DLC coating, a multi-layered anthracite dial, and tasteful accents in dark green. The design playfully combines various finishes and textures with a graphic anthracite Clou de Paris base plate, sunray-finished anthracite subdials, and laser-cut hour and minute indexes. The flange of the dial is satin-finished, providing further visual contrast.
Thoughtfully chosen, the green color is a tribute to the hue in most GCC national flags, symbolizing unity, freedom, and hope. You’ll find dabs of green in the double indexes, skeletonized second-time zone hand, screws, day & night indications, and even the luminescent hour and minute hands. The Arabic numerals and date marker stamped on the watch mark a first for the brand, making the Montblanc ‘Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec’ GCC Chronograph a collectible horological masterpiece.
The Montblanc ‘Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec’ Chronograph GCC Limited Edition is powered by the self-winding manufacture monopusher chronograph movement MB R200, Montblanc’s first in-house movement. This technical marvel features a column wheel that efficiently controls the monopusher mechanism. The chronograph’s precision is further enhanced by a vertical disc clutch that minimizes wear and tear while engaging and disengaging the gear train and chronograph wheels.
Design and function go hand in hand when it comes to this timepiece. It comes with a rapid-reset mechanism for the hour and date, making it a valuable accessory for travelers frequently crossing time zones. The balance wheel, with a significant diameter of 10mm, ensures a stable rate with a high moment of inertia and a frequency of 28,800 A/h (4 Hz). The double barrel provides a remarkable 72-hour power reserve, while the open-worked balance bridge guarantees optimal shock resistance.
The Montblanc ‘Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec’ Chronograph GCC Limited Edition offers versatility with two interchangeable straps: a green alligator strap and an anthracite textile strap featuring the Clou de Paris motif.
Exclusively available at Montblanc boutiques across the region, this timepiece is more than just a watch; it’s a tribute to tradition, a testament to modern craftsmanship, and a collector’s treasure.
