We’re just days away from welcoming the new year (seriously though, where did 2019 go?!) and whilst we’re all ready to embrace a ‘new us’ with all of the resolutions we’ve set for ourselves, it seems like the UAE is looking well ahead into its future too.
Following this year being the Year of Tolerance, 2020 has been declared as ‘2020: Towards the next 50’. The new year marks a major milestone for the UAE as it will be home to the Expo 2020, as well as will focus on the country’s preparation for the next 50 years — with the UAE’s 50th anniversary falling in 2021.
In a series of tweets His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai made the announcement and said: “Brothers and sisters. The UAE is approaching its fiftieth anniversary in 2021 and we want it to be the year of fresh-starts and new-beginnings. We will celebrate our country’s 50th anniversary and launch into another fifty. We will get ready for that in 2020. Next year will be the year of preparation for great strides”.
We can’t wait to see what 2020 will hold in store for the UAE.
