The Obama’s have revealed what Netflix shows they are producing

From presidency to producing...
The Obama's are proving their producing prowess with these Netflix shows...

Since Barak and Michelle Obama moved out of the White House three years ago, they haven’t had a dull moment.

Michelle’s book, Becoming has been met with great fan-fare and figures, steadying towards a best-selling memoir, while Barak has remained the world’s favourite person in all his pursuits.

Now, the power couple are producing some of Netflix’s biggest shows and movies. Since their partnership with the streaming company was announced last May, the pair have been working on a looong list of projects, which we’ve come to know overnight.

According to a press release, Higher Ground Productions, the production company owned by the former president and first lady, announced a slew of upcoming content that “encompasses a wide range of fiction and non-fiction signature productions for all audiences.”

Between documentaries, movies, series and narrative features, the Obama’s have got their work cut out for them. Here’s a list of the shows they’re producing…

– American Factory. A feature film that takes place in postindustrial Ohio, where a Chinese billionaire opens a new factory in an abandoned General Motors plant.

– Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom. This project will be a feature-length adaptation of the book of the same name by David W. Blight. Blight won the Pulitzer Prize in History for the book this year.

– Fifth Risk. A nonfiction series aiming to portray the work done by everyday heroes who are doing the work to guide the government and safeguard the nation.

– Listen to Your Vegetables & Eat Your Parents. Oh boy. We know this will be popular. This will be a series of 30-minute episodes targeted at preschoolers.

– Overlooked. This is an adaptation of the New York Times’ obituary column. This series will tell the stories of those whose deaths were not covered in the obituary column but should be shared.

Bloom. This is a period drama takes place in the fashion world of a post-WWII New York City. It will show the obstacles women and people of colour dealt with “in an era marked by hurdles but also tremendous progress.”

Well, that all sounds like perfect Thursday night viewing to us. Michelle added that, “We love this slate because it spans so many different interests and experiences, yet it’s all woven together with stories that are relevant to our daily lives.”

If we didn’t already adore the Obama’s, we absolutely do now.
