The 2019 Oscars: Winners

Here's who walked away with an Oscar this year
The culmination of awards has finally got us to the 2019 Oscars. Here's who scooped up the gold...

We’ve been gearing up for the 2019 Oscars since well, the 2019 Golden Globe nominations were announced, tbh. Since the GG’s took place, we’ve more or less been able to predict who was going to be adding a gong to their mantle piece.

Rami Malek has officially cleaned the best actor categories across the season with his final win for Actor in a Leading Role at this year’s Oscars for Bohemian Rhapsody and is the first ever Arab to win an acting Oscar. In one of the biggest shockers in Oscar history (after a very steady win throughout the season) Glenn Close lost to Oliva Colman who won in the Actress in a Leading Role category for The Favourite. It was neck-to-neck after Colman clinched the BAFTA earlier this month as well as a Golden Globe in the Best Musical or Comedy category. We’re still recovering from this tbh. But Colman’s speech was hands down, the best ever. So raw, so real, so funny.

And although Nadine Labaki didn’t become the first Arab woman to win an Oscar, for Capernaum, the Lebanese director did us so proud representing the region.

So, here’s who won at this morning’s (or last night’s if you’re in Los Angeles) ceremony…
