Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture is launching a new online platform

There's no better time than now to learn some Arabic calligraphy, and you can thanks to this new online platform...

In recent months, good news has emerged out of Saudi Arabia (this was before the global lockdown, of course), and the Kingdom continues to build bridges between its culture and the rest of the world. Just last year, the country opened its doors and invited international tourists to discover Saudi Arabia — a historic moment for the Kingdom and the Middle East, too.

Now, the Ministry of Culture has launched a new platform that allows users to learn even more about its culture.

Titled the “Calligrapher Platform” (also known as the “Alkhattat Platform”), Saudi’s Ministry of Culture introduced its first electronic platform aimed at teaching Arabic calligraphy and Islamic decoration via training courses, projects and professional workshops.

In addition to calligraphy and decoration, you’ll be taught by professionals and specialists from Saudi Arabia and the Arab world, ensuring the best quality in teaching practices. You’ll learn the basics of Arabic calligraphy (including the explanation of the alphabets and how to combine them), calligraphic paintings and artwork in Arabic calligraphy, as well as Islamic decoration, drawing and colouring, the art of paper marbling and Ebru (needle art).

The new platform is launched with support from the Quality of Life Program — one of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 plan.
