What’s better than one new Rihanna album? Two, of course. And whilst artists rarely, if ever, drop two new albums at once, if recent murmurings in the music industry are to be believed then it looks like we’ll be getting a double dose of RiRi in the near future.
RiRi herself confirmed she was working on new music on the press tour for Ocean’s 8 when she told Graham Norton, “I’m actually in the studio at the moment.” She didn’t let any further details slip however, though she did tell Vogue that she “plans to make a reggae album.”
Now, Rolling Stones has looked further into the situation and has spoken with a total of eight sources close to the new projects who have confirmed that there are two albums in play: one reggae and one pop. One source told the magazine, “[Rihanna’s team] have, no lie, 500 records for this project [from] different producers and writers. They’re only choosing 10. They’ve been having writing camps and trying to keep them quiet for almost a year and a half now. I’ve been flying to Miami, flying to L.A., cutting records nonstop for this project.”
In between launching new products for Fenty Beauty and debuting a lingerie line with Savage, where she’s found the time to record two albums is beyond us. But we know the girl loves to work, work, work, work, work, work…
In the meantime, find out who is nominated for this year’s MTV VMAs.
