To mark the start of the new decade, Queen Elizabeth stuns in a new royal portrait alongside Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George...

Kicking off 2020’s string of royal news is none other than Queen Elizabeth herself as she marked the start of the decade with a new formal portrait. And she wasn’t alone.

Captured through the lens of British photographer Ranald Mackechnie, the official photograph featured the Queen, alongside the first three heirs to the throne: son Prince Charles, grandson Prince William and great-grandson Prince George, who are next in the British royal family’s succession line to the throne, respectively, following the Queen’s death.

The 2020 portrait marks a rare occasion of the Queen together with all three princes and for the portrait, the current monarch opted for a white dress with a blue brooch and a black handbag.

Kensington Palace revealed the portrait on its Instagram page with a caption that reads: “Happy New Year! A new portrait of The Queen and The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George has been released to mark the start of a new decade. Wishing all of our followers a happy and healthy 2020!”
