If you feel like Angelina Jolie hasn’t been dominating your feed recently, it’s because she’s just doing her thing, you know, being a superhuman as the UN Refugee Agency’s special envoy.
As far as her film like goes, the last time we saw her in a starring role was in 2015’s By the Sea which was directed by her then-husband, Brad Pitt. After which she sat in the director’s seat for the biographical film First They Killed My Father.
But now she’s about to star in an original thriller, Those Who Wish Me Dead, loosely based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Michael Koryta. The book tells the story of a 13-year-old boy who witnesses a brutal murder and is then plunged into a new life, issued a false identity, and hidden in a wilderness skills program for troubled teens, while the killers are slaughtering anyone who gets in their way in a methodical quest to reach him.
Sounds juicily complex, enough.
Jolie will play the character of Hanna Faber, who occupies a lonely fire lookout tower before being swept into the teenager’s life. With this level of drama and inevitable plot twists, we’re feeling some Oscar buzz already.
