WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT WEARING SCENT IN THE HEAT

Using scent goes far beyond spritzing and going...

Perfume is enhanced by warmer temperatures, whether that’s accentuating your skin, your hair, or your surroundings and therefore, summer is a great time to incorporate fragrance into everything you do.

Warmth and sunshine intensify the fragrance of scented oils – meaning they project further – leaving a soft trail of perfume behind. For a glossy touch of glamour, massage a fragranced oil into your shins, décolleté and arms. Our tip? Apply a few drops to the neck, beneath the hairline, and along the centre of your chest, where skin tends to be warmer.

Your every move will leave behind a subtle scent if you wear your hair down with fragrance. As your hair warms naturally, the perfume will also become more intense. When using hair fragrances, make sure they are specially formulated for hair, as the alcohol content has been adjusted to prevent dehydration but don’t apply them at the roots, just along the lengths.

The warmth of your skin intensifies coconut and citrus-laced perfumes in the summer therefore, to fully appreciate those two notes, nudge quite close to the skin.

With scented oils or salts, you can make the most of your time in the shower or bath after a day in the sun. With the heat, the aromatherapy salts and scented bath oils will stay on your skin longer, enhancing the fragrance of your perfume.

Adding fragrance to your space is more effective in hot temperatures, whether you’re at home or away. Place your candle on an open windowsill so the scent dances in the breeze. In Malaysian culture, incense is traditionally burned near a bath or shower. The moisture picks up the scent and carries it throughout the room, keeping bugs at bay as well.
