Chanel’s new N°5 campaign will take you over the moon

There's a new campaign that pays tribute to the history of Chanel N°5...

Since the launch of Chanel No. 5 in 1921, there’s been a roster of women who have been the face of the iconic fragrance. The juices of the scent continue to top the list of formulas most-sprayed as it is a timeless yet extremely feminine scent that is synonymous with luxury and tradition, and so it only made a sense to bring on an impressive A-lister with similar ethos to represent the fragrance in 2020.

In a new campaign directed by Johan Renck, Marion Cotillard portrays a woman whose radiant energy responds to the force of lunar attraction — literally taking the N°5 scent with her over the moon.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the House of Chanel,” the French actress explains of her encounter with the maison. “It is something I’ve always dreamed about. It is hard to describe a dream that comes true.”

“Marion was the obvious choice,” explains Thomas du Pré de Saint Maur, Head of Global Creative Resources Fragrance and Beauty. “Returning to a French actress meant returning to a subconscious image of French femininity dear to the spirit of the House.”

This new chapter of the N°5 phenomenon symbolizes renewal as the moon is a character in its own right as it offers an invitation for reverie. That is the power of this fragrance.
